Torkel Gunderson, Age 80, of rural Oklee, MN, died Tuesday, March 8, 1994 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 14, 1994 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oak Park Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN.  Rev. Daniel Faugstad, officiant.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 P.M., with a prayer service Sunday evening at 7:30 P.M.   at the Petterson Funeral Home, Oklee, MN.

Visitation on Monday will be at the church for one hour before services.

Interment will be in the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

Torkel Gunderson was born July 7, 1913 in Equality Township, Red Lake Co, MN, the son of the late Sam and Mary (Lande) Gunderson.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Clearwater Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN.  He grew up and attended school in Equality Township.

He married Ragna Hofstad on Oct. 10, 1942 in Clearwater Lutheran Church and they lived and farmed on the farm that his father homesteaded in 1899.  They farmed until 7 years ago and continued to reside on the home farm.

He was active in community affairs, having served on the Clearwater Church Board and numerous farm organizations, including the Farmers Union & Cooperative Boards.

Torkel and Ragna were selected Red Lake Co., MN "Valley Farmer & Homemaker of the Year for 1981."

Survivors include wife, Ragna Gunderson, Oklee, MN; daughters, Arlene Berry, East Grand Forks, MN, Dianne and husband Clarence Gagner, Brooks, MN, Sheryl Wilde and Special Friend Arlan Fore, both Oklee, MN; 2 sisters, Thora Gunderson, Fremont, CA, Emma Sheffield, Fremont, CA; 1 sister-in-law, Leola Gunderson, Thief River Falls, MN; 1 brother-in-law, Adolph Hofstad, Oklee, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren, Tim Gagner and wife Brenda of Fergus Falls, MN, Steph Gagner, Fergus Falls, MN, Dan Gagner, Brooks, MN, Dave Berry and wife Gayle, East Grand Forks, MN, Nikki Berry, East Grand Forks, MN, Mark Berry, East Grand Forks, MN, Corey Wilde, Grand Forks, ND, Eric, Ryan, and Casey Jo Wilde, Oklee, MN; 4great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trent, and Brittany Gagner, Fergus Falls, MN, and Payton Berry, East Grand Forks, MN.
