Trisha "Trish" Kriel, 53 of St. Hilaire, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the Memorial Service to celebrate Trish's life at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Sheila Michaels officiating.

Trisha Lyn Holmstrom was born March 17, 1969 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Timothy Edward and Linda Sue (Skarsten) Holmstrom. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Trisha attended Central Valley School in Reynolds, ND and graduated from Larimore High School with the class of 1987. Trish then attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and the AVTI in East Grand Forks, MN.

Following her college, Trish began work at the North Dakota Eye Clinic in Grand Forks as a Medical Transcriptionist. Following thirteen years of employment there, Trish began work at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls where she worked for about one year. For the past thirteen years, Trish has worked at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls for the first few years in Medical Billing and then in Medical Coding.

In the summer of 2000, Trish met the love of her life, Jeffrey Kriel. The couple were married on July 9, 2005 at Evanger Lutheran Church near Grand Forks. The couple made their home in St. Hilaire, MN with Jeff's two sons, Gastin and Gannon and in 2007 their son, Logan was born. In 2017, the family bought their forever home along the river in St. Hilaire with a spacious, beautiful back yard.

Trish was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins and Fighting Sioux hockey fan! Since 2014, her favorite team to follow was Logan's hockey and baseball teams and she was his number one fan! She was a very proud Hockey Mom!

In March of 2021, Trish was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer which she battled courageously with the help of family and friends by her side. Trish was so appreciative of the support of Logan's hockey and baseball families.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jeff; her sons, Logan Kriel of St. Hilaire, Gastin (Amanda) Kriel of Gatzke, MN and Dr. Gannon Kriel of Roseau, MN; grandchildren, Tinley, Sawyer, Ashtyn, Braxtin; parents, Timothy and Linda Holmstrom of Grand Forks, ND; siblings, Timothy (Julie) Holmstrom of Crestwood, KY (Chase & Trevor) and Kristy (Brandon) Kisch of St. Hilaire (Bailey & Madison); mother-in-law, Carol Kriel of St. Hilaire; sister-in-law, Lisa (Gerald "Yogi") Koble of Roseau, MN (Matthew (Ryan), Alisha (Robbie) & Megan); brothers-in-law, Steve (Jennifer) Kriel of Thief River Falls and Ryan (Twila) Kriel of Goodridge, MN (Blaine (Kember), Brooklynn, Simone, Cari (Nate), Jake (Katrina); many great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward & Lillian Holmstrom and Albert "Pops" & Gwen Skarsten; and father-in-law, Roger Kriel.
