Vay Rawerts, 87 of rural Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at his rural Red Lake Falls Home. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at 10:30 AM in St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks Officiating. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls at 9:30 AM Tuesday.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:30 Prayer service at the St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Vay Thomas Rawerts was born September 19, 1912 in Pennington County, MN son of Thomas and Alma (Aasboe) Quamme. Vays mother passed away when he was 6 weeks old. The lord gave him wonderful parents in Lammert and Lena (Drees) Rawerts. He married Minnie E. Ulrich in Wylie, MN on July 8, 1931. Vay lived and farmed for 50 years in Gervais Township, Red Lake County, MN. Minnie passed away August 12, 1981.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, was an AFRAN member and was an active member of the Trapshooting Association for many years.
Vay is survived by his children Sylvia (Earl) Berg of Red Lake Falls, MN; Daniel Rawerts of Thief River Falls, MN; Connie (Rev. Dr. Arthur) Spomer of Broken Arrow, OK; Dr. Patricia (Marvin) Dahl of Bloomington, MN. Daughter-in- law Eva Rawerts of Red Lake Falls, MN. Seven grandchildren Rev. Thomas Rawerts, Earl Berg Jr., Tim Rawerts, Angela Dahl, Karen Berg Ohlrogge Carlson, Amy Spomer Subera and Rachel Spomer Wallace; Eleven great-grandchildren. Half-sisters Maurine Kelly of Bakersfield, CA and Virginia Clem of Truman, AR. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alma and Thomas Quamme, Lammert and Lena Rawerts, wife Minnie Rawerts, daughter Myrna Rawerts, son Dennis Rawerts. Daughter-in-law Carol Rawerts and grandsons Daniel Rawerts, Micheal Berg, granddaughter Mary Spomer, sister Tina Emerson.
