Verna Dorothy Johnson was born on January 12, 1913 in North Township, Pennington County, MN, the daughter of Renold and Hilda (Storing) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended grade school in Pennington County, graduating from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Following High School Verna attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. Verna worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Thief River Falls for 40 years, with most of those years in Customer Service.

Verna was united to Clarence Wold on June 20, 1956. Clarence died on January 26, 1972. In May of 1999 Verna moved to Valley Home, where she has since resided.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and was active in Sunday School and also in several Womens Groups.

Verna loved to read. She also enjoyed working for White Cross making bandages, which were sent to hospitals around the world.

Verna is survived by one brother, Ray (Myrtle) Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; one niece, Barbara (Barry) Olsson of Minneapolis, MN; and one grand niece, Deborah Wharton of Minneapolis, MN; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; two brothers: Elmer and Ted; and two sisters: Gladys and Bernice.
