Vernon Jorgenson passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at St. Crispin Seminary Home in Red Wing, MN.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Vicki Saude-Worthington Officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held on Sunday 3 – 5 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Vernon Richard Jorgenson was born on December 24, 1929 in Alma Township, to George and Hannah (Myrfield) Jorgenson. He attended school in McCrea Township.

On May 28, 1949 Vernon was united in marriage to Joan Ellen Anderson in Viking, MN. To this union 4 daughters were born. Together they made their home in Warren. Later they moved to the Iron Range and then made their home in St. Paul Park, MN. He was a member of the Carpenter Union Local #322 for 50 years.

After their retirement Joan and Vernon moved to Thief River Falls.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and singing, bingo, lutefisk. They were active volunteer's for the VFW.

Vernon is survived by his children, Ellen (James) Erickson of Omaha, NE, Eleanor Mattson of South St. Paul, MN, Emilie Rae of South St. Paul, MN; Edie (Michael) Gray of Hastings, MN; grandchildren Brian (Tiffany) Erickson, Scott (Kathleen) Erickson, Carrie (Leon) Morrison, John Gray, Rebecca (Cory) Strand, Thomas (Molly) Erickson, Elizabeth (Joey) Mattson-Monahan, Tonille Miller, Vernon Miller; 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Neil (Emily) Anderson of Zim, MN; sisters-in-law Jane Jorgenson of Eveleth, MN and Verna Jorgenson of West St. Paul, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents and 6 brothers Oliver, Alton, Melvin, Clifford, Lloyd and George and one infant sister Gladys Jorgenson.
