Vernon Neuschwander, 71, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at his home in rural Grygla, MN.
Vernon Leonard Neuschwander was born June 26, 1933 at Appleton, MN, the son of William John and Palma Victoria (Windsnes) Neuschwander. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith in 1955 at First Lutheran Church, Middle River, MN. Vernon moved to Grygla with his parents at the age of one. He was confirmed as an adult at Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla, MN. He grew up and attended Grygla country schools. In 1951, he graduated from Goodridge, High School, Goodridge, MN. He farmed in Valley Township, Marshall County, MN
On June 27, 1953, Vernon was united in marriage to Lois Marlene Peterson at First Lutheran Church, Middle River. He dairy farmed from his youth until he became ill in 2002. He also drove school bus for 34 years, 1957-1991, for Grygla-Gatzke School and worked for Saurdiff & Sons Trucking where he hauled cattle.
Vernon was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served as church president. He was a member and board member of DHIA for a number of years and was a fire warden since 1959.
Survived by wife, Lois, Grygla, MN; 3 children, Steve (Shirley), Grygla, MN, Elden (Dawn), Grygla, MN and Deb Sovde, Greenbush, MN; 11 grandchildren, Traci (Sean) Cox, Navoto, CA, Travis Neuschwander, Grygla, MN, Dustin, Courtney, Heath, Jordan, Brooke, Shane and Whitney Neuschwander, Grygla, MN, Dezirae (Kelly) Gustafson, Warroad, MN and Delayne Sovde, New Brighton, MN; 3 great grandchildren, Zoe, Grayson and Kolden; 2 brothers, Lawrence (Arlene) Neuschwander and Floyd (Phyllis) Neuschwander all of Grygla, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents.
