Vernon R. Ostlund, 80, died Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.

Vernon was born Jan. 28, 1924 son of the late Emil and Alice (Tyson) Ostlund at Holt, MN. He attended country school near Gatzke. He entered the US Navy and served during WWII. On November 8, 1965 he was united in marriage to Marcella Holthusen at Wannaska, MN. The couple farmed north of Grygla where they raised sheep. Vernon also worked as a logger in Wyoming and Montana and worked at Arctic Cat for 5 years.

Vernon enjoyed spending time in the woods, deer hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children LeeAnn (Ron) Pribula of Badger, MN; Arnetta (Dale) Zeidlik of Goodridge, MN; Sharon (Milton) Wikstrom of Alexandria, MN and Dianne (Tom) Frederickson of Drayton, ND: 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Three sisters Thelma (Gordon) Foss of Grygla, MN; Edna (Emmett) Finley of Roseau, MN and Ruth (Larry) Foster of Sheridon, WY. Several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife Marcella; sons Leslie Ostlund and Delwyn Torgerson; daughter Charleen Bailey and brothers Alvin and Lester Ostlund and sister Eleanor Harrison.
