Vernon J. Plante, 78, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM, Monday, March 16, 2009 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Oklee, MN with Father John Kleinwachter presiding. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Oklee.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Vernon Joseph Plante was born October 9, 1930 to parents Sam and Mable (Boucher) Plante. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

In Verns early work years he worked for farmers in the area. Later he worked at Aurora Mining Plant in Aurora, MN. He later worked for Alvin Jensen Mink Ranch and the last place was Lois (Jensen) Eck Mink Ranch. He retired at 70 years old.

He truly enjoyed his hobby gardening and enjoyed being with the family.

Survivors include sister, Gladys Plante, Oklee, MN; brothers, Clarence Plante, Oklee, MN, Pete Plante, Warroad, MN, Steve and Dewey Plante, both of South Milwaukee, WI.

He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Leonard and Lawrence Plante and an infant brother.
