Vernon "Vernie" L. Skalsky, 87, formerly of Ada, MN, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Valley Home Assisted Living & Memory Care, Thief River Falls, MN.

Vernon "Vernie" Lester Skalsky was born October 23, 1929 in Ada, the son of Joe & Helena (Kroca) Skalsky.  He attended country school near their farm.  After his schooling, he farmed with his dad for a few years.  Vernie was united in marriage to Virginia Anne Cross on October 23, 1951, at Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN.  They were blessed with four boys, Rick, Kenny, Bruce and David.  They resided on their farm north of Ada and Vernon farmed in partnership with his brother Bob for many years in the summers and worked at various businesses in the winters; Ada Produce Co., Lesemen Machinery and Norman County Implement.  He also worked for Loyal Sip farm and then Ray Bitker farms for several years before retiring. Vernie and Ginny lived at Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN in later years.  He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends, and took pride in his farming skills over the years. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Vernie is survived by his wife, Virginia, Thief River Falls, MN; four sons, Rick (Connie) Minot, ND; Kenny (Sue) Powell, Wyo; Bruce (DelRae), St.  Hilaire, MN; David, Williston, ND, 11 grandchildren: Carmen (Omar) Collazo, Courtney Skalsky, Caylee (Chris) Debryn, Jory Skalsky, Jalyssa (Adam) Sorenson, Jessica (JW)  Heny, Joey Skalsky, Zachary (Lorrisa) Skalsky,  Joshua (Michelle) Skalsky, Isaac (fiancé-Ashley) Skalsky, Ann Skalsky, 7 great grandchildren,  James, Jenna, Elliana, Nora, Rose, Sola, and Restan. Vernie is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Helena Skalsky, and two brothers, Leo and Robert.

Funeral: 11:00AM, Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Wednesday, February 15 ^th from 5:00-7:00PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30PM, at the Church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
