Obituary

Veronica Hoefer. 90, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Gentilly, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Veronica Mary Schindler was born on September 29, 1921 on the family farm in Red Lake Falls Township the daughter of John and Mary (Schmitz) Schindler. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Veronica attended country school in Red Lake Falls Township and Lake Pleasant Township. Following her school, Veronica stayed home to help on the family farm. On March 2, 1943, Veronica was united in marriage to Leo Hoefer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. In 1950 the couple purchased a farm in Lake Pleasant Township in Red Lake County. The couple enjoyed the farm life where they raised their nine children and farmed small grains, dairy and beef cattle. Veronica always had a big beautiful garden, she loved her flowers, was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. She also liked to bake pies and bread. Veronica was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN, where she was a choir member for many years. After moving to Red Lake Falls in November of 1990, she joined St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She belonged to the St. Ann's Society, Catholic Daughters, Homemakers Club, and was a 4-H leader. She worked as a home health aide for Inter County Nursing Services from 1972 until the mid-1990's. Survivors include her children, Mary (LeRoy) Pazdernik of Mentor, MN, Genevieve (Orville) Knott of Red Lake Falls, Henry (Cynthia) Hoefer of Plymouth, MN, Yvonne (Thomas) Schue of Lubbock, TX, Duane (Theresa) Hoefer of Brooklyn Park, MN, Timothy (Peggy) Hoefer of Red Lake Falls and Katherine (Thomas) Thedens of Elk River, MN; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hoefer of Moorhead, MN; 28 grandchildren, Mary Kay, Melanie, Jenipher, Karalyn, Karl, Sheila, Jay, Randy, Justin, Leah, Jonathan, Jordan, Josiah, Matthew, Christopher, Benjamin, Robert, Bridget, James, Katrina, Michael, Courtney, Paul, Stacy, Michelle, Amanda, Sarah and Emily; 43 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Josephine Teggatz in New Ulm, MN, Raymond (MaryAnn) Schindler of Thief River Falls, MN, MaryAnn Schafer, Vernon (Mary) Schindler, Theodore (Marian) Schindler, Valentine (Delores) Schindler all of Red Lake Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Patricia Schindler of Red Lake Falls, MN, Bernadine Loebach of Humboldt, IA, and Leona Bevolden of Red Lake Falls, MN; and many nieces, nephews, god-children, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo on April 9, 2011; 2 children, Gerald and Russell; parents; siblings, Edward (Jean) Schindler, Louise (Joseph) Kees, Bernard Schindler, Eugene Schindler, and infant brother, Louis; brothers-in-law, Eugene Teggatz and John Schafer.
