Vicki Austad, 52, of Trail, MN, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail, MN. with Pastor Mike Sletto officiating. Interment will be in Sand Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN and again one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Vicki Austad was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on November 28, 1955 to Robert and Delores (McEnelly) Johnsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1975. She then went on to study cosmetology at the Thief River Falls AVTI. On March 28, 1981, Vicki was united in marriage to Lyle Austad. Vicki worked several jobs throughout the years most recently at McIntosh Manor in the housekeeping department. Vicki loved reading books, going for walks, and generally keeping busy. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Sand Valley Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.


Vicki is survived by her loving husband, Lyle; children, Carissa (Kory) Rasmusson of Trail, Troy (Alice) Austad of Burnsville, MN, Rory (Melissa) Austad of Trail, MN, Kellie (Ric) Decker of Fort Worth, TX, and Kari (Jarrod) Wilde of Thief River Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; mother, Delores Johnsrud, grandmother Tilla Johnsrud; 2 brothers, Jim (Kim) Johnsrud of Goodridge, MN, Jerry (Fern) Johnsrud of Goodridge; 1 sister, Kathy (Ed Sabo) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father Robert Johnsrud; maternal grandparents, Roy and Edna McEnelly, paternal grandfather Teloy Johnsrud; and mother and father-in-law Ole and Ione Austad.
