OBITUARY FOR VICTOR GABER
CROOKSTON, MN FORMERLY DOROTHY, MN

Victor Gaber, 83, died on Tuesday, October 6, 1998 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 1998 at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, Dorothy, MN with Father Tim Bushy presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 1998 with a 7:00 PM Wake Service at Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, MN and for one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Victor Mark Gaber was born on January 2, 1915 in Leaf Mountain, Ottertail Co., MN to Joseph and Anna (Prodahl) Gaber. He was baptized on January 10, 1915 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville, MN. In 1929 he moved to Euclid, MN with his parents and later to Dorothy, MN where the family farmed.

Victor entered into service with the United States Army on March 31, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN. He fought in battles and campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was Honorably Discharged on October 18, 1945.

On August 16, 1948 Victor was united in marriage to Agnes Rode in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple farmed near Dorothy for many years, and Victor also worked at the American Crystal Sugar Company in Crookston until retiring in 1977. He served on the Wylie Town Board for 40 years. Victor enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, raising chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys.

In 1993 Victor suffered a stroke and moved to Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN where he has resided since.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes in Crookston; 4 children, Shirley Gaber of Euclid, MN, Gloria (Lyle) Cote of Red Lake Falls, MN, Joe Gaber (Special Friend, Glory Ann) of Crookston, MN, Lorna (Carl) Tofsley of Crookston, MN; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lonie Dargon of St. Hilaire, MN; brothers, Adam, Edward, Louis all of Crookston, MN and Dominic of Pueblo, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Joe, Ray, and Jack; and grandson, Dale Cote.
