VINCENT A. SCHMITZ, 75 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, August 22, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday August 25. 1998 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Vincent Arthur Schmitz was born January 8, 1923 in Red Lake Falls, MN son of John and Anna (Pahlen) Schmitz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Red Lake Falls. He entered the US Navy May 12, 1943 and was Honorably discharged on November 24, 1944. On April 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Miller in Red Lake Falls at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He began work at Red Lake Electric Co-op in Red Lake Falls on April 19, 1945 and retired on January 8, 1985. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and served on the St. Joseph School Board and was a blue line club member.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and took pride in his yard and in setting up his display of Christmas lights.

Vincent is survived by his wife Helen of Red Lake Falls: children Marlene Neys (George) of Warren, MN; Michael Schmitz (Karen) Arlington, TX; Charlotte Erickson (Tim) of Roseau, MN; Bonnie Olson (Les) of Wellington, CO; Paulette Beyer (Neil) of Red Lake Falls, MN; Connie DuFault of Red Lake Falls, MN; Valerie Cairns (Richard) of Arlington, TX and Lawrence Schmitz (Felicia) of West Concord, MN: 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brothers and Sisters Elizabeth Guerard of Minot, ND; Sylvester Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN; Lucille Desotell of Clariss, MN; Louis Schmitz of Farmington, MN; Leonard Schmitz of Farmington, MN; Clarice Knott of Red Lake Falls, MN; Marilyn Newton of Euclid, MN; John Schmitz of Thief River Falls, MN and Anthony Schmitz of Bagley, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Timothy on Dec. 8, 1980; sister Margaret Cuno and brothers Joseph and David.
