Violet Laurel Holmstrom, 85, Thief River Falls, MN died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 in Grand Forks, ND.
Violet Laurel Holmstrom was born December 10, 1919 in New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN to the late Nels and Inga (Hall) Johnson. She attended school at Holt, MN and Busy Bee School. She was baptized and confirmed at Rindal Lutheran Church. On September 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to Vernon Holmstrom at Newfolden, MN. The couple lived in various places throughout the upper Midwest while working for the US Army Corps of Engineers. They returned to Thief River Falls in 1974 where they made their home. Vernon died October 12, 1987 and Violet continued to live in her home until December of 2004 when she entered Oakland Park Nursing Home. Violet was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church.
She is survived by sons, Barry Holmstrom and wife Edith, Madison, WI and Craig Holmstrom and wife Sandra, Red Lake Falls, MN; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amy) Holmstrom, Kristin (Brian) Konrad, Michael (Fianc Darcie) Holmstrom, Heather (Brent) Gilbertson, Sarah (Trevor) Haugen and Marisa (Thomas) Iverson; six great-grandchildren, Erik, Evan and Ryan Holmstrom, Nicole Konrad, Kyler and Alex Haugen; sister, Eileen (Norris) Trochmann, Thief River Falls, MN; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson, Newfolden, MN, Ella Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by husband, Vernon; parents; brothers; Clifford, Berton, Leonard, Lowell; and sister, Violet Laurine.
