Obituary

Violet Ellen Larson, 90, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in Greeley, CO.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Tim McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Bernards Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Violet Ellen Larson was born on June 15, 1915 at Devils Lake, ND to H.H. (Harry) and Sina (Eckland) Kelly. In 1929 the family moved to Thief River Falls from Grand Forks. She attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1934. Following graduation, she attended UND and then trained in Minneapolis, MN as a lab and x-ray technician.

Violet was united in marriage to Justus H. Larson on January 5, 1938. They made their home in Thief River Falls. Violet was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed raising her four boys. Known for her positive attitude and zest for life, Vi was always up for a celebration and typically the life of the party. Violet was famous for singing her signature song, Were from Thief River. Justus passed away March 12, 1980, after which Violet wintered in Sun City West, Arizona for many years. She was united in marriage to Al Gregerson in September 1, 1990 until his death in February of 1999. Violet moved to Greeley, CO in October of 1999.

Violet was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and also the golf, bowling, bridge, and curling clubs, and the Dees.

Violet is survived by 3 sons: Mark (Jean) Larson, Thief River Falls, MN; Greg (Marcy) Larson, Little Falls, MN; Brian (Kim) Larson, Greeley, CO; daughter in law Valerie (Roger) Heyn, Thief River Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren: Grant, Derek, Kent, Kara, Brittany, Jillian, Brandon, Hunter; 1 great grandchild Reese.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands Justus H. Larson and Al Gregerson; son Jon Larson in 1998; and brother Harley Bud Kelly in 2002.
