Violet Muzzy, 78, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.


Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Phil Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be 4-7 on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 5:00 PM on Wednesday. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday.

Violet Mae Muzzy was born May 10th, 1929 at her parents home in Silverton Township, Pennington County, MN to Odin and Manda (Klemmetson) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed by E.O. Sabo at the Silverton Church in rural Thief River Falls. She attended Silverton District #42 school thru 8th grade, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1947. She attended various classes in Food Service at Northland College in Thief River Falls. After graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, and later for School District #564 for 20 years in the Food Service Dept.

On October 2nd, 1949, Violet was united in marriage to Lester Muzzy at the Silverton Church by the Reverend V.G. Sorenson. The couple farmed in Excel Township of Marshall County for over 50 years. After the death of her husband in 2004, Violet resided at Heritage Maples Apartments in East Grand Forks, MN.

Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church, Thief River Falls, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and served on various committees in the church. She served as a 4-H leader for several years, was a member of the West Steiner Homemakers group, and Christian Womens Group.

Violet is survived by three daughters: Brenda Walberg of Colorado Springs, CO., Kathy (Jerry) Narlock of Corpus Christi, TX., and Laureen (Mark) Johnson of Manvel, ND.; two sons: Darrel (Robyn) Muzzy of Woodbury, MN., and Mitchell (Joanette) Muzzy of Elk River, MN.; nine grandchildren, Coby Walberg; Samantha, Michael, Caitlin, and Mark Muzzy; Aaron and Ryan Muzzy; and Kayla and Alyssa Johnson; one brother, Clayton Hanson of Thief River Falls; and one brother-in-law, Curtis Johnson of Staples, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Odin and Manda Hanson; sister, Marlene Johnson; and son-in-law, LeRoy Walberg.
