Violet Olson, 86, died peacefully at her home in Thief River Falls, MN on August 28, 2010

Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. John Voelker, officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.

Violet Elaine Olson was born September 19, 1923 in Moylan Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of John Henry and Christine Bendina (Ennen) Claussen. She was baptized on March 18, 1924 and later confirmed into the Lutheran Faith.

Violet attended grade school at District 91 in Germantown, MN and high school at Lincoln High School. After high school Violet went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. Violet and her family moved back to the Thief River area in 1945 and later moved to Smiley Township. While living in Smiley Township she was a member of Smiley Community Club and the Helperette Homemakers Group.

In 1964, Violet moved into Thief River Falls where she has since resided. She was employed by several Thief River businesses including Schusters Lefse and Green Thumb.

Violet enjoyed gardening, making craft and crocheting projects, knitting and sewing. She belonged to a polka party group and loved to dance. Collecting many salt and pepper shakers over the years was one of her favorite hobbies. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Violet is survived by her daughters, Holly Ann Wilson (Roman DeCoteau) of Grand Forks, ND and Sharon Rae (Bruce) Russell of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Cindi (Mark) Bondy of Moorhead, MN, Brenda (Brian) Kasprick of Angus, MN, Troy (Sheila) Wilson of Thompson, ND, Kim Ferguson (Brett Garner) of Grand Forks, ND; great-grandchildren, Ben, Allie and Katy Bondy, Jim, Cody, Andy, Brady and Emma Wilson, Makayla and Zach Ferguson, Brittany, Brandon and Brady Kasprick and her nieces, nephew and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Ennen, Ethel Panek and Mildred Baker; brother, Harvey Claussen.
