Violet Olufson, 94 of Grygla, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN with her loving family at her side.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating.  Burial will follow at Our Saviors Cemetery, rural Grygla, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church.

Violet Elaine Jelle was born on April 20, 1923 the daughter of John and Thora (Moe) Jelle.  Violet was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Grygla, MN and attended school in rural Grygla.

On October 10, 1942, Violet was united in marriage to Tellef Torgerson at the parsonage in Grygla.  To this union six children were born, Delores, Lillian, Opal, Douglas, Carter and Scotty.  Tellef passed away November 9, 1970.

Violet worked at various jobs including Schusters Lefse, Land-O-Lakes and Arctic Cat and enjoyed working on the family farm.  She also enjoyed planting flowers, planting trees and caring for her yard.

On July 24, 1981, Violet was united in marriage to Edwin Olufson.  They made their home in Grand Forks, later in 1994 moving to rural Thief River Falls and later to Grygla in 2002.

Violet enjoyed embroidery making beautiful towel sets for everyone.  Violet made sure when anyone came to her house, no one left hungry.  Violet was a loving mom to her children and they were the love of her life.  She loved her grandchildren very much.

Survivors include children, Delores (Douglas) Nomeland, Lillian (Harvey) Lund all of Thief River Falls, Opal (Curtis) Bottem, Douglas (Linda) Torgerson, Carter (Linda) Torgerson, Scotty (Laurie) Torgerson all of Grygla; 20 grandchildren, Julie (Joe) Borchardt, Yolanda (Todd) Blechinger, Melanie (Jim) Ortloff, Jeffrey (Stacy) Lund, Blair (LeeAnn)Lund, Michelle (Kelly) Little, Nicole (Greg) Bottem, Todd (Rhonda) Bottem, Chad (Julie) Bottem, Shane (LeaAnn Torgerson,Misty Manderud, Travis (Stephanie) Torgerson, Bryce (Samantha) Torgerson, Alicia (Kevin) Erickson, Courtney (Khaled) Rashed, Joshua (Kelly) Torgerson, Kayla (Tim) Creger, Cally (Chris) Torgerson, Emily (Ben) Torgerson, Jacob Mayo; 32 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Isaac) Borchardt, Brock Borchardt, Brandon Ortloff, Brianna (Brady) Ortloff, Daniel (Marissa) Lund, Brittney (Dusty) Pierson, Jessica (Isaac) Larson, Kaitlin (Tanner) Lund, Ian (Hannah) Lund, Khloe Lund, Kylee Little, Morgan Little, Brooklyn Anderson, Brady Anderson, Jenny (Chad) Stromland, Tricia (Jake) Larson, Amanda Bottem, Natasha (Joe) Kinzer, Kaitlynn Bottem, Lilly Homme, Kaylor Torgerson, Janessa Torgerson, Dylan Manderud, Riley Manderud, Chase Manderud, Sawyer Torgerson, Tanner Torgerson, Dawson Erickson, Ava Erickson, Nolan Torgerson, Olivia Torgerson, Youssef Rashed; one great-great grandson, Quinton Pierson; and many nieces and nephews.

Violet is preceded in death by her husbands, Tellef and Ed; parents and siblings, Evelyn (Halvor) Arneson, Walter (Bernice) Jelle, Louis (Helga) Jelle, Jorgen (Kate) Jelle, Clarence (Ruth) Jelle, Esther (Clayton) Sundberg, Grace (Carlyle) Askeland, Elmer (Helen) Jelle and Henry Jelle; daughter-in-law Sharon Torgerson.
