Virgil Glass, 86, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor, MN with Monsignor Roger Grundhaus presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Mentor.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, September 1, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral mass on Tuesday at the church.

Virgil Warren Glass was born on September 25, 1921 to John Henry and Myrtle (Rustad) Glass in Lake Pleasant Township in Red Lake County, MN. He grew up and attended country school and graduated from LaFayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1940.

Virgil was united in marriage to Doris Dubuque on October 15, 1945 in Red Lake Falls, MN. They moved out west to Pendleton, Oregon where Virgil worked in a factory making boxes. They moved back to a farm near Red Lake Falls where they lived until 1950 when they purchased a farm near Mentor, MN where they had dairy cattle, beef cattle, and small grains. Virgil moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine in 2006.

Virgil enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served on the Mentor School Board for 20 years. Virgil loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They could get a smile out of him like nobody else could.

He is survived by his wife Doris Glass, Erskine, MN, 3 children, David (Kathy) Glass, Buffalo, WY, Marilyn (Lewis) Doyea, Bagley, MN, Randy Glass, Mentor, MN, 7 grandchildren, Stacey (Mike) Hron, Denise (Nathan) LaFriniere, Kristi Doyea, Ryan Doyea, Darin (Melanie) Glass, DeAnn Glass, Devin Glass, 12 great grandchildren, Amy, Ashley, Blake, Jordyn, Brandi, Austin, Kyle, Spencer, Chase, Cody, Jaylee, Kinzie, 1 brother Darrell (Evelyn) Glass, Red Lake Falls, MN, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
