Virgil Radniecki, 85, of Oklee, MN died on Sunday August 8, 2010 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father John Kleinwachter officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery at Oklee.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 " 8 PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Virgil Radniecki was born on August 27, 1924 in Trail, MN, the son of John and Emma (Vattendahl) Radniecki. He was baptized and confirmed at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Plummer, MN. He attended Pennington County District 52 rural school, two years high school in Goodridge, MN and finished his schooling at the Agriculture School in Grand Rapids, MN.
On November 26, 1945 Virgil was united in marriage to Therese Fortier at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN.
Virgil farmed in Deer Park Township in Pennington County. In 1956, he started working construction for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock on the Red Lake River. Most of his years of construction work were spent with Radniecki and Jensen Construction Firm. During his retirement years, Virgil assisted his son-in-law, Fred Sorensen, with farming.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, deer hunting, bowling, softball, woodworking, and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
Virgil was on the school board of Pennington County District 34, a member of Farmers Union, Eagles Club, Rhodas St. Gertrude Church and St. Francis Xavier Church of Oklee.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Therese; children: Stephani (Dick) Kalar of Shoreview, MN, Roxanne (Fred) Sorensen of Red Lake Falls, MN, Deborah (Richard) Perreault of Waseca, MN, Steven (Renee) Radniecki of Twin Valley, MN, Tom Radniecki of Oklee, MN, Bruce Radniecki of Red Lake Falls, MN, Geraldine (Errol) Rustan of Oklee, MN, Randolph (Lori) Radniecki of Sumner, WA, Mary Kay (Randy) Robidoux of New Berlin, WI, Gayle (Steve) Grossman of Staples, MN, John Radniecki of Fargo, ND, Genevieve (Mitch) Radniecki " Hayle of Bemidji, MN and Danielle (Gary) Parenteau of Hawley, MN; 30 grandchildren: Mark (Amy) Kalar, Gary Kalar, Jessica (Tim) Ollhoff, Greg (Carol) Sorensen, Stephanie Sorensen, Fred (Sara) Sorensen, Chad (Laurie) Perreault, Dawn (Darin) Thureen, Nicole (Todd) Hering, Tyler (Erin) Radniecki, Tara Radniecki, Sam Rustan, Anna (Steven) Stoll, Emma Rustan, Gustav Rustan, Clara Rustan, Taylor Radniecki, Allie Radniecki, Cameron (Katy) Robidoux, Craig (Jenny) Robidoux, Carrie (Aaron) Green, Josh (Ashley) Grossman, Travis (Stacy) Grossman, Ryan Hayle, Myah (Jake) Wiltermuth, Dominic Hayle, Grace Hayle, Ryan Parenteau, Marc Parenteau, and Andraya Parenteau; 20 great-grandchildren: Alexander Kalar, Emily Sorensen, Hallie Sorensen, Skya Wilson, Dominic Wilson, Fred Sorensen IV, Jamie Perreault, Kaitlyn Perreault, Madison Perreault, Keaten Stoll, Keira Robidoux, Keilee Robidoux, Aviana Wiltermuth, Anika Wiltermuth, Caden Green, Izabella Green, Allison Hering, Emily Hering, Zachariah Thureen and Abigail Thureen; brothers: Casimir Radniecki of Oklee, MN, Roman (Elaine) Radniecki of Oklee, MN and Richard (LaVonne) Radniecki of Apache Junction, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Emma; brothers, Stanley, Al and Jack; and sisters, Ann Grimes, Helen Frank and Catherine Jorgenson.
