Obituary

Virginia Shepherd 88 of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery near Red Lake Falls.

Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.

Virginia Viola Cameron was born March 13, 1928 daughter of Ross and Janette (Smart) Cameron at Moorhead, MN. She moved with her family at a young age to the Baker MT area where she was raised and educated. She attended school at Ollie, MT graduating in 1946. Virginia attended teachers training and taught in the Baker area.

On December 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Ralph "Buck" Shepherd at Ollie, MT. To this union five children were born Scott, Patty, Gale, Ross and Jan. The couple made their home in the Baker area where she taught country school and also worked the hot lunch at the school in Baker. She also worked in the kitchen in the Baker Hospital. In 1999 they moved to Red Lake Falls, MN and since August 2016 has resided at Hillcrest Senior Living.

Virginia enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was an excellent hostess and always welcomed friends, family and even some strangers. Most of all she loved the time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her husband Buck of 67 years, children Patty (Gary) Purath of Red Lake Falls, MN, Gale Shepherd of Billings, MT, Ross Shepherd of San Diego, CA, Jan (Todd) Glass of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren Jodi (Kurt) Knott of Bemidji, MN, Darci (Tim) Moch of Edgeley, ND, Cody Glass, Robbie Glass of Red Lake Falls, MN, Britta Glass of Moorhead, MN; great-grandchildren Briggs, Millie, Landon and Cameron Knott and Jillian Moch; brothers-in-law Ronnie (Ramona) Shepherd of Baker, Mt, and Jerry Bays of Washington; sisters-in-law Rosie Dahlman and Lolita Cameron both of Baker, MT along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents, son Scott Shepherd, brothers Terrence, Colin and Alan Cameron, granddaughter Robyn Purath; brothers-in-law Vic Berg, Dale Shepherd; sisters-in-law Doris Berg, Fern Bays, Jean Cameron and Sandy Shepherd.
