Wallace Anderson of Middle River, MN, age 75, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Veteran's Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24th, 2013 at 10 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Rev. Rena Peterson officiating. Interment will be at the Spruce Valley Cemetery, rural Middle River, MN. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 5-7 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Wallace (Wally) was born July 28, 1937 in Middle River, MN, the son of Frank and Harriet (Von Wald) Anderson. He was the third child in a family of nine. He grew up on the family farm near Strathcona and attended school at Middle River, MN, graduating from high school in 1955. Wally entered the US Army in August, 1960 and was stationed at several posts in the states and in Germany. He attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN, while he was a member of the Army Reserves. He worked for Collins Construction and also for several years at Quality Products Manufacturing in Stephen, MN, before returning to farming on the home farm in Huntly Township and caring for his parents, Frank and Harriet, until their deaths in 1992 and 2005. He never married. The farm and family were very important to Wally and he was a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He was also a "contact person" for uncles and aunts and cousins. He enjoyed sports, hunting and was a member of Senior Citizens Club, American Legion, and First Lutheran Church in Middle River. He is survived by brothers, Earl (Jan) of Stephen, MN, James (Alice) of Rapid City, SD., Richard (Sylvia) of Edgewater, MD, Lowell of Fort Worth, TX, and Brian of Palm Bay, FL, also one brother -in-law Gerald Moen of Newfolden, MN, 10 nieces 5 nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Elona Moen, two brothers, Gordon and Robert, and sisters-in-law, Baryth Anderson and Fran Anderson.
