Wallace Champagne, 88 of Red Wing, MN formerly of Brooks, MN died on Sunday, November 29, 1998 at High Park Nursing Home in Red Wing, MN. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 1998 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Joe Richards Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Brooks.

Visitation will be held on Sunday 5 " 8 PM with an 8:00 prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Wallace Champagne was born October 7, 1910 eldest son of Max and Annie (Shank) Champagne in Brooks, MN where he was raised and educated. He was baptized in Lambert Township. On November 26, 1930 he was married to Mae Perreault at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. The couple lived and farmed in the Brooks area for a short time. They then moved to South Milwaukee, WI where he worked at Bueyrus Erie. Later he returned to Brooks where he owned and managed the Liquor Store. He served as mayor of Brooks for a time.
Wallace belonged to the Eagles in Thief River Falls and he loved to golf, bowl, dance, sing and especially liked to watch sports on TV.
He is survived by his six children Euella Galasso (Tony) of Florence, OR; Doreen Bryant (Lory) of Riverside, CA; Bernard Champagne (Grace) of Snow Hill, NC; Bonita Langer (Lawrence) of Hager City, WI; Arnold Champagne of San Francisco, CA and Betty Yoder (Thomas) of Wichita Falls, TX. His ex-wife Mae V. Champagne of Snow Hill, NC; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and two infant siblings.
