Walter Alexander Katschke was born May 17, 1930 at Denham, IN, the son of Alexander and Bessie (Pelsor) Katschke. He grew up and attended school at Denham. He entered the United States Army on July 17, 1947 and was honorably discharged December 23, 1949.
On May 19, 1968, Walter was united in marriage to Willadean Bope at Hobart, IN. Following their marriage he worked as a union carpenter and mason. In June of 1970, the couple moved to Plummer, MN. He owned his own and operated his own construction company. Returning to the carpenters Union they traveled throughout the Midwest prior to retiring in Brooks MN.
Walter was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN, the Plummer American Legion and United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, Local #606. He liked to garden, hunt, fish, play cards and visit with friends. He very much enjoyed spending time and being papa with the neighborhood children.
Survived by wife, Willadean Willie , Brooks, MN; children, Sherrie (Jason) Engen, Thief River Falls, MN, Ann Tuura, Greenbush, MN, Cindy (Lowell) Arlt, Plummer, MN, Doyle Woods, Alabama, Rodney (Margaret) Koch, North Junction, IN, Carl (Joyce) Magers, Randall, MN, Marsha McPherson, Frankfort, IN and Linda (Al) Esterline, South Whitley, IN; 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Paul Katschke, Hicksville, OH, Richard (Joanna) Katschke, Bourbonnais, IL and Pauline Draeger, Pinellas Park, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Bessie; daughter, Mary Lynn; brothers, Ralph and Alferd Katschke and a son-in-law, Mike Tuura.
