Walter Manderud, 64 of Crookston, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his loving family at his side.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM with the funeral starting at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Walter Ralph Manderud was born on September 5, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Rudolph and Delores (Campbell) Manderud. He attended school in Thief River Falls.

He made his home near Gentilly, MN and worked at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN for many years. He also worked for an area farmer for many years.

Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was not working. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in his garage. Walter always had a smile and would help anybody who needed it.

Survivors include niece & nephews, Kathy (Ken) Manecke of San Antonio, TX, Tony (Becky) Ramirez of Minot, ND, James (Fallon) Manderud of Centerville, TX, Don Briggs of Crookston, MN, Jeffery (Nikki) Manderud of Houston, TX and Chad Manderud of Crookston, MN; 10 great-nieces & nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen & Roy; and his sister, Vivian.
