Obituary

Walter Noyes, 90, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center Chapel in Erskine, MN with Rev. Tim Lundeen officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery near Mentor, MN at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday. Walter Noyes was born on November 8, 1921 to Curtis and Leah (Langlois) Noyes in Poplar River Township, Red Lake County. He attended country school through the 8th grade. He entered the Navy with his twin brother and served on the USS Salt Lake City. Walter was united in marriage to Harriet Rude on January 17, 1946 at the parsonage in Erskine. They later moved to the home farm in Poplar River Township and took over the farming operation. He raised cattle and grain. Walter also worked for American Crystal Sugar, the Minnesota Highway Department, and Vigen Construction. Walter was united in marriage to Irene Christanson in November of 1980. He moved to Oklee. In his later years, Walter lived at the Country Place in Erskine prior to moving into the Pioneer Care Center in October of 2011. Walter enjoyed playing cards and dancing. He is survived by his wife Irene, at Country Place in Erskine, MN, two daughters: Karen (Dick) Delage of Brooks, MN, Julie (Tony) Derosier of Erskine, MN, seven grandchildren: Wade Delage of Brooks, Angela Delage (Vern Prochaska) of West Fargo, ND, Nichole (Eric) Roed of Crookston, MN, Branden Delage of West Fargo, ND, Kyle (Tami Strassburg) Delage, of Brooks, MN, Jessica (Bill) Schanke of South Weber, UT, and Blake Derosier of Erskine, MN, 11 great grandchildren: Trevor, Tanner, Brooke, Haley, Gunner, Kelsey, Mary, Kylie, Jordan, Tristan, and Jocelyn, one sister Ada Adams of Luverne, MN, and several nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his first wife Harriet who died on April 9, 1979, his parents, three infant children Charles, Linda, and infant girl, four brothers Jack Noyes, Clifford Noyes, Fred Noyes, and twin brother George Noyes.
