Walter Patterson, 82, Erskine, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Thief River falls, MN.

A Celebration in honor of Walter's life will be held at the cabin on Paulson Lake this summer.

Walter LaVerne Patterson was born April 5, 1936 at Erskine, MN, the son of Henry and Marietta (Reinstma) Patterson.  He attended school through the 8 ^th grade.

He served his country in the United States Army from August 1955-July 1957.

In 1962, Walter was united in marriage to Joan Abrams.  Joan passed away in 1992.

He then married Jean Roppe on May 23, 1998. Jean passed away on Feb 24, 2019.

Walter was employed as a mining supervisor.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing wood-work, watching chipmunks, and his cat Pia.

Survivors include children: Zelda Patterson, Jeff (Linda) Patterson, Jenny (Mike) Tillotson and Sheila (Dave) Manthey; grandchildren: Christopher (Andrea) Blauert, Kelsey Cherne, Jason (April) Patterson, Sarah (Matt) Clark, Scott (Jessica) Patterson, Seth (Jackie) Tillotson, Amanda (Jesse) Froseth and Dillon Manthey; great-grandchildren: Murphy Blauert, Theodore Blauert, Maggie Blauert, Noah Patterson, Brantley Patterson, Cooper Clark, Mackenzie Clark, Kaelynn Patterson, Annika Mousseau and Grace Froseth.

Upon marrying Jean, Walter inherited more family, Naomi (Pat) Bliss, Bonita (Dale) Wojtowicz, and Leland (Danyce) Roppe; grandchildren Martina (Brian) Caudill, Kimberly (Robb) Farley, Gentell (Troy) Hanson, Erin (John) Pelletier, David Roppe (partner Amy Gerten), and Jonas Wojtowicz (fiancé Kristin); great-grandchilden Braydon Holzinger, Cassidy Wolcenski, Colby Suchla, Andrew Gerten, Samantha Gerten, Alexis Roppe, Hunter Wolcenski, Mason Hanson, Payton Hanson, Marshall Farley, and Manning Farley; brother Russell Ruud of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; wives; and sister, Jeanette Mayer.
