Walter Raedel of Fargo, ND formerly of Thief River Falls, MN age 87 died peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND. Sigvei Raedel of Fargo ND, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, age 84, died peacefully Monday March 2, 2015 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fargo ND. The Memorial Service for Walter and Sigvei will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will be at Emardville Cemetery near Plummer, MN. Walter Rudolph Raedel was born on June 12, 1927 in Grafton, ND the son of Kathryn (Dietrich) and Walter Raedel, Sr. Sigvei Johanna Fossum was born on February 6, 1931 in Aneta, ND the daughter of John and Asta (Sennerud) Fossum. Sigvei attended 8 grades of school at Aneta Country School and in the fall of 1944, the Fossum family moved to Plummer, MN. Sigvei graduated from Plummer High School in 1948 and that fall went to Neche, ND. Walter entered into service with the United States Army on December 11, 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA. Walter was Honorably Discharged on December 10, 1952. On May 10, 1952, Walter Rudolph Raedel and Sigvei Johanna Fossum were united in marriage. Following Walter's discharge from the army, the couple made their home in Grand Forks, ND. Walter was a salesman for West Bend Company and later was supervisor for B.F. Goodrich Company, Brake and Wheel Department for all the western states. The couple enjoyed playing cards, going fishing and spending time with their family. Walter was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sigvei was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include son, Keith Raedel of Fargo, ND; daughter, LuAnn (Joe) Ruchman of Thousand Oaks, CA; and several other family members. Sigvei and Walter are preceded in death by their parents; daughter, Cheryl Engelker; her brother, Karsten Fossum; her sister, Evelyn (Ken) Schweitzer; her sister, Arlene Kelly; and his two brothers, Frank Raedel and Harold Raedel.
