William "Bill" Norman East Grand Forks, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN age 62, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding and Msgr. Timothy McGee as homilist. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Crookston, MN. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM on Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. William Patrick Norman was born on October 10, 1951 in Crookston, MN the son of Lawrence Michael, Jr. and Jeanne (Scully) Norman. He grew up in Thief River Falls, MN. Bill went to eight years of Parochial school at St. Bernard's, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1970. He also attended Northland College in Thief River Falls. Bill was a natural and accomplished hockey player in Thief River Falls during his youth and high school years in the late 60's and early 1970. While living in Shakopee, MN during the late 80's, he worked as a hockey coach with the younger age groups for the Shakopee Recreation Dept. and also functioned as an assistant hockey coach for one year for the Shakopee Senior High School. He also enjoyed refinishing old wood furniture pieces. On July 28, 1979 Bill was united in marriage to Valerie Thorson in St. Hilaire, MN and to this union two children were born, Amanda and Jesse. He worked construction throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. In the late-1980's Bill suffered a severe accident while working at a job site in Grand Forks, ND and was not able to work after that. On June 29, 1985 Bill was united in marriage to Pat Huss in Staples, MN and to this union one son, Trevor was born. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda (Aaron Johnson) Norman of Roseau, MN; son, Trevor Norman of Shakopee, MN; sisters, Connie Schroeder of East Grand Forks, MN, Lynn (Ken) Rolandson of East Grand Forks, MN and twin sister, Betty (David) Sjostrand of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Evan Fish, Zoe and Rowan Johnson of Roseau, MN; eight nieces; three nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Michael Norman and Jeanne Delores (Scully) Norman; brother, Lawrence Michael Norman III; son, Jesse Norman; grandparents; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Schroeder; and several uncles and aunts.
