William Bill Rondorf, Jr. 75, died on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his loving family at his side.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bert Foster officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church.
William Gerald Rondorf, Jr. was born on March 26, 1936 on the family farm in Rocksbury Township, Pennington County, MN the son of William, Sr. and Matilda (Hinrick) Rondorf. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended the St. Hilaire Public School.
Bill worked on the family farm until he was drafted into service with the United States Army on July 19, 1955. He took his basic and advanced training at Fort Chaffee, Ark; and was stationed with the 2nd Armored Division in Germany. He drove supply truck and traveled throughout Germany. Bill was Honorably Discharged on July 3, 1957 and returned to live at Red Lake Falls, MN where he worked for the Red Lake Falls Rendering Plant.
While visiting the Hartz Coffee Bar in Thief River Falls, Bill met the beautiful redhead, Brunelle Peterson, whom he fell in love with and eventually married on August 9, 1958. They made their home in Red Lake Falls and to this union three children were born, Pamela, Paul, and Philip.
Bill did some long distance trucking and then went to work at Hartz Foods in Thief River Falls where he drove truck for 28 years. He then drove milk truck for Dan Jolly in Red Lake Falls until his retirement in 1998.
Bill enjoyed working with horses, gardening, reading magazines, deer hunting, driving around the country to see the crops and wildlife; visiting old friends; and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing.
He was a member of the Hans E. Lian American Legion Post 444 in Middle River, MN.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Brunelle of Thief River Falls, MN; sons, Paul (Yu Soon) Rondorf of Apple Valley, MN and Phil Rondorf of Thief River Falls, MN; son-in-law, Joe DeHaan of Red Lake Falls; grandchildren, John DeHaan, Jenna DeHaan, Samuel Rondorf and Timothy Rondorf; sisters and brothers, Delores Gully, Millicent Paulson, Ardillis Hemple, Beverly Baker, Rallie Rondorf, Leonard Rondorf, Sylvia Wilcoxson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela; brothers and sisters, Laverne, Alvin and Eugene Rondorf, Marcella Jorde and Blanche Goethe.
