Obituary

William Bill Seeger, 91, died on Monday, June 4, 2007 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, Minnesota with Robert Paulson officiating. Burial will be Zion Cemetery, Oklee.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Friday evening and also visitation on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.


William Bill Bruce Seeger was born on April 14, 1916 in Oklee, MN the son of Charles and Flore (Tessier) Seeger. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN. Bill attended high school in Oklee, and also attended Fargo Business College. He worked in California for a couple of years, then moved back to Oklee and worked with his father at Seeger Hardware.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Irene Rolandson on April 18, 1938. In 1939 they purchased the Seeger hardware store and ran it until 1964. In 1958 Bill and partner Alfred Berg opened Oklee Recreation, a bowling Alley and Restaurant which they operated for six years. Bill then sold out and retired. He did some traveling and enlarged their Maple Lake home. He started working for Inter County Community Council and later William established and became Director of Multi County Housing Authority based out of Mentor, MN covering Northwest Minnesota.

William was a member and board member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oklee Community Club, Oklee City Council and was Mayor for 14 years. He was also a member of the Maple Lake Improvement Association and was treasurer and president retiring a second time in 1986. Bill always said his favorite hobby was working.

He is survived by his son Charles Robert (Janice) Seeger of Fridley, Minneota, grandchildren: Carl William (Kathy) Seeger, Edgerton, WI and Glenn Bruce (Sherry) Seeger of Anoka, MN, great grandchildren: Corben, Alec, William, Nina, Joshua and Ani. Sisters Betty Melby of Oklee, MN Florence Paquin of Roseburg, OR and Frances (Vincent) Anderson of Mesa, AZ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Mabel in 1999.
