Wilson Galland 94, of Mentor, MN passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor, MN with Reverend Mike Sletto Officiating and guest speaker pastor Leslie Galland. Burial will be held in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Mentor, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 5 – 7 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Wilson Orlando Galland was born August 1st, 1922 on the family farm at Mentor, MN to Orin and Stena (Strand) Galland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He attended school in Mentor. Wilson was a farmer most of his life raising grain and cattle.

On March 14th, 1943 he was united in marriage to Clara Sveningson. They have resided on the home farm where he was born for almost 73 years.

When the farming wasn't too good, he and his brother, Chester, decided to find jobs elsewhere. In 1952 he started construction work to help build American Crystal Sugar beet factory in Crookston. When that was finished he worked on road construction between Fisher and Crookston. He also helped with construction of Trinity Church in Crookston and Riverview Hospital.

His last 29 years of working out was at Central Bi-Products, Red Lake Falls. He retired because of his health. After retirement he loved going to garage sales. He became a real wheeler dealer. He had a sale every summer for about 10 years and enjoyed everyone. He especially liked to get old furniture. When that was getting hard to purchase, he quit but would keep busy with the yard work. He liked to have a big garden when he was able to take care of it. He never liked to sit around, he always wanted to work. In July of 2016 Wilson and Clara were awarded the Polk County Century farm award. Wilson entered Pioneer Memorial Care Center in November of 2016.

Wilson is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Clara at Mentor; daughter Sharon (Bob) Wolf, of Crookston, MN, Sons Bruce (Lorraine) Galland of Bagley, MN and Reggie (Janis) Galland. of Mentor, MN; Ten Grandchildren, Becky (Paul) Kalvik, Karen Pruett, Jenny (Todd Cummings) Hanson, Chad, Melissa and Crispen Galland, Marcia (Jason) Sorensen, Jill (Leif) Kolstoe, Amy (Arick) Broden, Katie (Jason Bachmeier) Galland. Ten precious Great-Grandchildren, Michael Galland, Paige, Megan & Grace Hanson, Hailey, Riley & Gunnar Broden, Natalie Bachmeier, Hunter Sorensen and Ava Kolstoe, along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Chester, Raymond and infant brother Wilson. Four sisters, Viola Grimstad, Nell Bergh, Clara Bouffleur, Berdie
