Yvonne Martha Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN, formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on October 28, 2020 at North Star Manor in Warren, MN, at the age of 79.

Yvonne Martha Johnson was born on October 22, 1941 in Chittagong, Bangladesh, the daughter of Aloysius and Kathleen (Gonsalves) D'Costa. She attended school at St. Scholastica's Convent Orphanage. She worked as a teacher for a short while and then continued her career at the World Bank in Bangladesh.

After moving to America she worked for Hampton Roads Transit in Virginia Beach as a secretary.

Yvonne liked cooking, gardening, going for walks and hanging out with her best friend Rose Counter, and enjoyed watching TV & movies. She loved to play Bunko with her lady friends and attend church religiously.

She is survived by her two children, Christine (Ken) Barnes of Thief River Falls, MN, and Paula (Sean) Defendi of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Connor and Lauren Barnes, Troy Giles and Cole Defendi; sister, Bertha (Errol) Robertson of Bangladesh; nephews, Jose D. Sabiniano and Andrea (Cissy) Robertson & their children; nieces, Stella Ashman, and Amelia (Hazem) Sedra; great-nephew and great-niece, Erin and Rhett Sedra.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius & Kathleen D'Costa; sister, Daphne D'Costa and Constance Sabiniano, and niece, Linda Robertson.
