Yvonne Larson, 75, Holt, MN, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Eventide the Fairmont Assisted Living in Moorhead, MN from complications of diabetes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday July 31, 2010 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN with Pastor Sheila Michaels officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Holt Cemetery

Yvonne (Haagenson) Larson was born on November 13, 1934 in Marshall County to Loyd and Emma (Lunke) Haagenson. She attended country school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1952.

On May 7, 1955 Yvonne was united in marriage to Orville Larson. Together they made their home in rural Holt for over 50 years.

She was an active member as well as a lifelong member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN where she served as organist for over 40 years. She also belonged to Nazareths Naomi Circle.

Yvonne and Orville opened their home to foster children and were known as Mom and Dad or Grandma and Grandpa by many of the children that called their house home.

Yvonne worked at Arctic Cat and Kmart in Thief River Falls for several years.

Yvonne loved to knit afghans, blankets, sweaters, hats and mittens of which many were given away to friends and family over the years. Some of her other pastimes included crossword puzzles, playing piano, baking and trying new recipes. She really enjoyed working with her flowers and watching birds, especially hummingbirds, orioles and goldfinches. Collecting anything with loons, cups and saucers, frogs, salt and pepper shakers, green glass were her hobbies. Yvonne enjoyed spending time reading with her grandchildren and loved when she could babysit for them.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Craig (Mary Jo) Larson of Dilworth, MN, Jerald (Darcy) Larson of Waverly, MN, Tonia Larson of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kari (Jason) Blazek of Nisswa, MN, Lisa (J.T.) Smith of Eagen, MN, Carl (Nichole) Larson of Crookston, MN, Amanda (fianc Nate) Vraa of Ellsworth, WI, Joshua (Tiffany) Vraa of Sartell, MN, Jennifer (Mark) Anderson of Chanhassen, MN, Scott Larson of Hutchinson, MN, Nick (Carrie) Booth of Twin Valley, MN, Jon Booth of St. Albans, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Harley, Emily, Morgyn, Teddy, Dirk, Vance and Leanna; brother, Lyle (Ruth) Haagenson of Thief River Falls, MN; Nephews, Loren (Dana) Haagenson of Moorhead, MN and Darrin (DeNae) Haagenson of Moorhead, MN and their families; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Owen of Worthington, OH, Dorothy Cornelius of Spencer, NC, Betty Larson of Carrington, ND, Lois Larson of Thief River Falls, MN as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Orville in April of 2009; parents; an infant son, sister-in-law Beatrice Boyum and her husband Ken; brothers-in-law, Lowell Larson, Donald Larson, William J. Owen Sr. and Reverend Conrad Cornelius.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide in Moorhead for the wonderful care that both Yvonne and Orville received during their time in Moorhead.
