Gordon Bring, 98 of Newfolden, MN passed away peacefully Friday, May 21, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center Fargo with his loving family by his side.

The funeral to celebrate Gordon's life will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Rev. Kevin Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Westaker Free Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Bethania Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN.

Gordon Evonne Bring was born January 20, 1923 at a farm southwest of Newfolden, MN the son of August and Alma (Tunheim) Bring. He was baptized on July 9, 1923 and later confirmed in Newfolden. Gordon attended Marshall Country, School District No. 67 in West Valley Township and attended the NWSA (Northwest School of Agriculture) in Crookston, MN in 1943. His father died when Gordon was 19 which is when Gordon took over the family farm in West Valley Township.

On April 19, 1958 Gordon was united in marriage to Barbara Jeanne Hanson in Middle River, MN. They made their home in Newfolden, MN, on the Bring Family Farm and raised four children: John, Roger, Karyl and Karl. Together they raised dairy cattle and small grains. He worked at Arctic Cat for many years. Following retirement from there, Gordon worked at Custom Wood Products in Newfolden, for area farmers, and enjoyed working in the beet harvest for many years.

Gordon was an active member of Bethania Lutheran Church and most recently attended Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden. In their later years, Gordon and Barbara moved into Newfolden and became active in the Newfolden Senior Citizens. In 2000 Gordon was named Outstanding Senior Citizen from Newfolden and in 2006 Gordon and Barbara were named Outstanding Senior Citizens and represented Newfolden at the Marshall County Fair.

Gordon enjoyed gardening, adult coloring, making sunflower spinners, making scarves, and especially loved woodworking. He made toy boxes & motorized Valentine boxes for his grandkids, highchairs, Christmas stars, stepstool/ironing boards, rocking horses, along with many other items. He enjoyed riding snowmobiles and had received trophies for being the oldest rider for five years at the Stephen, MN vintage snowmobile rides. Gordon cared deeply for his family and always loved to give a big hug.

In the summer of 2018 Gordon and Barbara moved to assisted Living at Valley Home in Thief River Falls.

Gordon is survived by children, John (Betty) Bring of Thief River Falls, MN, Roger (Reta) Bring of Newfolden, MN, Karyl Grochowski of Donaldson, MN, and Karl (Lisa) Bring of Newfolden, MN; grandchildren, Sara Bring, Wendy (Joel) Robinette, Kaitlin Mock, Logan (fiancée Abigail Audette) Bring, Mason Bring, Dustin Carpenter, Corey (Sheila) Grochowski, Jeremy Grochowski, Austin (Brooke) Grochowski, Kassidy (fiancé Dylan Hanson) Hultgren, Tory (Morgan Senn) Bring, Tanya (Nick Vig) Bring, Hannah Peterson, Lexi Bring, and Luke Bring; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice "Bunny" (Glendon) McKeever of Middle River, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2019; parents; and sister, Ardelle (Donald) Stengrim.
