Obituary

Pauline Mae (Shervold) Johnson, age 77, from Babbitt, MN and formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Essentia-St. Mary's in Duluth, MN with her husband David and daughter Delaine by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Pastor Kevin MacLean officiating.  Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery after the funeral.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church.

Pauline was born in Portland, Oregon on September 3, 1943 to Oscar and Nora (Morkve) Shervold.  She was the second born of seven siblings.  Pauline attended Minot High School, then went on to attend Beauty School in Tacoma, Washington before moving to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1962 with her family.

Pauline was united in marriage to the love of her life, David Johnson, on July 31, 1965 and had been married for 55 amazing years.  Together they had two children:  Delaine and David Lee.

Pauline and David moved to Thief River Falls in 1970, where they raised their children.  They called Thief River Falls their home until 2015 when they moved to Babbitt, MN to be by their daughter.

Pauline worked at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls for 19 years.  She enjoyed her job and cherished her many co-workers.  Prior to Digi-Key she worked as a bus driver for ISD 564 and at Mr. Duane's.

Pauline enjoyed vacationing, playing cards, dancing, and spending quality time with her family and cuddling their late Yorkie dog Callie.

Pauline's love for bright colors matched her personality every day.  Her larger-than-life smile, quick witted remarks, sharp one-liners ("I don't shive a git" and "Quit it!"), positive attitude and mindset will surely be missed, but never forgotten.  Her favorite time of year was when her grandson's and her "bonus" grandsons would come to visit during the summer

Pauline is survived by her husband David Johnson (Babbitt, MN), daughter Delaine (Dave) Solberg (Babbitt, MN), grandchildren Michael (Kelsey Sullivan) Solberg (Duluth, MN) and Scott (Cheyenne) Solberg (Eagan, MN).  Brothers and sisters:  Richard (Judy) Shervold (Grand Forks, ND), Ronald Shervold (Thief River Falls, MN), Nadine (Garry) Hitt (Old Monroe, MO), Darleen (Valley) Schill (Thief River Falls, MN), Diane (Duane) Rud (Thief River Falls, MN) and Alvin (Diane) Shervold (Grand Forks, ND).  Sisters-in-law and brothers in-law: Linda Johnson, Mary (John) Lund, Tim (Jackie) Johnson and Shelly (Jeff) Julson all from Bemidji, MN.  Brother-in-law Duane Bowman (Bemidji, MN).  Special friend Peggy Lawrence (Thief River Falls, MN) along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her son David Lee Johnson, parents Oscar and Nora Shervold, father-in-law Arthur Johnson, mother-in-law Beulah Johnson.  Sisters-in-law:  Sharon Anderson, Carolyn Bowman, Freida Johnson and Eloise Johnson.   Bothers-in-law:  Bill Johnson, Laurel Johnson and Ronald Anderson.
